There are, as we know, two RAF Squadron badges which show an elephant. One of these depicts a static beast and there is of course 249's, which has our Jumbo charging with trunk extended presumably trumpeting it's message to distill fear into the hearts of it's foes. Hardly what you would call a stealthy animal - pugnacious certainly but not very smart nowadays. If one had to redesign our badge to incorporate the pugnacity and stealth called for in the 21st century how should our elephant be shown? A prize for the most appropriate entry will be awarded by the Larnaca Bay sub-branch of the RAF Association at the reunion visit to Akrotiri in September '07.
