I'm trying to find out any information about one Flt Lt Barton who served in 249 Sqn during the Battle of Britain flying Hurricanes. He shot down a Bf110 on the 15 August 1940 jointly with PO Meaker DFC. PO Meaker was later killed on the 27 September 1940 but I don't know the fate of Flt Lt Barton, what rank he attained or even if he survived the war. My interest revolves around the downing of the above Bf110 which crashed near Slackstead, Hants.
Many Thanks,
Bjorn

I have now got more information on the man I am looking for. He is the Canadian born Wing Commander Robert Alexander 'Butch' Barton OBE DFC and Bar. Did he remain in the UK after the war or go back to Canada? Is he still alive? Does anyone know?

Have been in touch with Bjorn and have forwarded a letter to Wg Cdr Butch Barton's last known address in Canada.
